A Decade of Cultivation: The Macau Illustrators Association has, since its founding, plowed the field with pens, quietly sowing seeds in the soil of this small city, nurturing countless illustration talents, and witnessing the sprouting and blossoming of countless creative seeds. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, we have taken "ten" as our theme, transforming it into a winding journey, a cyclical path, and a staircase of growth—guiding viewers into the creative stories embedded deep within the soul of each illustrator.
Through a series of exciting exhibitions, brand-new works, and curated retrospectives, we will bring the art of illustration into the public eye, showcasing how local illustrators are drawing a new chapter in art with their lines and colors. The concept for the main visual emerged from in-depth conversations with members of different generations, as we listened to their persistent creative endeavors over the past decade—some pushing through unbearable toothache to keep drawing, others seeing themselves as snails moving slowly but steadily forward, some viewing creation as a brief escape from reality, and others acknowledging the thorny path of this profession. Yet, they all share a common belief: illustration has allowed them to see more possibilities in the world and encounter different landscapes.
We have distilled these moving moments into three main visual illustrations. Each frame is presented as "十," "10," or "X," symbolizing the diverse and rich creative faces of the association's members. Through these three distinct yet equally belonging worlds of illustrators, we hope viewers can feel the unique, vibrant energy of the Macau Illustrators Association.
